My
Space Adventure This Book was created Especially for At the age of 4 With Love From, Aunt Sue and Uncle
Bill Sarah Mitchell had a dream. Only Beth, Adam and Keith knew about this special
dream. Today, she
wanted to be the commander and pilot of her own
space shuttle so they could fly to other planets not yet discovered. Sarah
supervised the building of their space machine in her
backyard in Houston. Once their cardboard shuttle was completed, they suited up. Beth, Adam and
Keith, along with Sarah, felt like real
space astronauts, even though they realized they were just pretending. Sarah
and her crewmembers wanted to carry gifts to
children on other planets. They knew
that would be very exciting. Beth, Adam and Keith used wagons to gather gifts of
flowers, toys books and many other nice things while Sarah
was busy finding room for them inside the shuttle. Sarah
carefully planned the route as Beth, Adam and Keith finished up the last-minute details for there
“make-believe” trip. It was “T” minus
five minutes until BLAST-OFF when they decided everything in the cockpit was in
order. Sarah
directed the loading of all the gifts onto the space shuttle. She also made
sure plenty of peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches were packed for their space
food. Then Beth,
Adam and Keith climbed aboard knowing they were ready for anything. Sarah
announced, “All systems are go! Is everyone
strapped in and ready for the countdown?” “10…
9… 8… Will we break the sound barrier? 7…
6… 5… Will we be back before dinner? 4…
3… 2… 1… BLAST-OFF!” “Wait
a minute!” shouted Sarah. “Where are all those blinking lights coming
from?” Sarah quickly looked out her window.
“WOW!” She
would not have believed it if she had not seen
it with her own eyes. A real spaceship was landing beside their cardboard space
shuttle. Was
this a dream? Sarah
could see many rainbow-colored space people walking toward her spacecraft.
These space people appeared to be friendly because they were all smiling
sweetly at Sarah and Beth,
Adam and Keith. That made them
want to smile back. “Sarah Mitchell, we have been watching you for a long
time now. We are very pleased that you
are generous enough to want to share your gifts with children on other
planets. You and your friends are
invited to come with us now and meet the children on our Planet Love.” Sarah
quickly wrote a note explaining where they were going. Then all of a sudden, they were beamed into
a beautiful space vehicle. As they
walked around inside they could see the controls and cockpit of this real space
shuttle. There was even a computer on
board with lights that blinked and flashed. The
kind commander asked Sarah if she would like to sit in the command seat and fly the
spacecraft to the Planet Love. “Oh! Beth, Adam and Keith, my dream is really coming true!”
laughed Sarah. The
spaceship soared into outer space at a speed of Mach three. “That means we are going three times faster
than the speed of sound,” explained the wise commander. Sarah asked
millions of questions and decided space travel was truly fascinating. Through the window, everyone on board could see bright
lights ahead. It looked like a rainbow
path leading to a rainbow-colored planet.
Sarah told Beth,
Adam and Keith that it had to be the Planet Love. Then they all got ready to disembark! The
children of Planet Love were thrilled to see the people from the Planet
Earth. They told Sarah that they loved the flowers, games and other
gifts, but their favorite gifts were the books. Everybody laughed and had so much fun learning about each other. Beth, Adam and Keith told Sarah it would
be fabulous if they could bring the joy and happiness from Planet Love back to
Houston. But then, all too soon, in a
big flash of bright, blue lights, they were beamed back to Earth. Sarah
anxiously asked, “Was it just a dream?”
Then Sarah looked at Beth, Adam and Keith in disbelief and amazement. They were each wearing a rainbow-colored
outfit. They all smiled at the same
time. There really was a Planet
Love! Mission Complete!
